M. Wesley Mashburn


M. Wesley Mashburn joined Deseret Trust Company in 2020 as Vice President and Senior Trust Officer. He previously worked for the United States Senate, the Nevada Supreme Court, a law firm, and, for 19 years, the Philanthropies Department of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a director, senior manager, and charitable gift planning specialist.

His main responsibilities include:

  • Serving as the chairman of the board of trustees
  • Developing and stating long-range company objectives
  • Monitoring the financial health of the company
  • Recruiting and motivating qualified staff
  • Overseeing the annual operating budget and capital expenditures
  • Overseeing trust and custody accounts
  • Serving as a liaison to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

  • Current member of the George W. Romney Institute of Public Management Executive Advisory Board within the Marriott School of Management at Brigham Young University
  • Past board member of the Utah Planned Giving Roundtable and Utah Valley Estate Planning Council
  • Current member of the Nonprofit and Estate Planning sections of the Utah State Bar, the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners, the Purposeful Planning Institute, the International Association of Advisors in Philanthropy, the Utah Planned Giving Roundtable, the Utah Valley and Salt Lake estate planning councils, and the J.
